A moment of truth

For people who lead double lives. On one hand they love God, in other times, their actions mock God. God's grace is not a licence to sin. God will hold us accountable to our actions and measure our faith in Him to deliver us from our sin. Hence although we struggle to free ourselves from the tentacles that bind us, we have little excuses to justify our failed attempts when we already have redemption at hand. If God has already provided a way out, we're only trapping ourselves if we do not make real concerted efforts to free ourselves but continue to dwell in sinful actions displeasing to God. As one famous preacher puts it, we can't go around playing in the devil's courtyard without being bitten by his dog. One day, sin will bite us and we'll go running back to God (if we're lucky enough to escape attack). But God in His omni-presence will either rescue us or turn His face away. Any futile attempts to call out to him, "Lord, Lord, why have you not heard our cries..." will only be subjected to His loving discipline. At this point, one can only relish in his own folly and endure the fruits of his disobedience. Sin's natural consequences will only extend its long arms of the law and consume our feeble cries for help, as if our God has indeed forsaken us. So the question lies in where we place our true faith? That God will save us at our final breath? Or only when we repent while there is breath within us to make things right with Him. I believe God will only say, son i was there when you sinned, yet you did.
